Classification of the technical maintenance and repair for Kelly bars
Preventive examination and repair
At the preventive examination of the Kelly bar it is dismantled at the special jig. Sections of the bar are cleaned and examined for any possible defects. Also, the spring or block shock-absorber of the bar as well as pressing and fixing washers are cleaned and examined. After examination and preparing the list of defects the repair works are done to eliminate those defects.
Small repair
During small repair some insignificant longitudinal cracks at the tubular sections of the bar are eliminated, and geometry of the internal and external locking elements of the sections is restored.
Mid-size repair
During this operation internal and external locking elements which had been seriously damaged and worn-out are repaired, spring or disc shock-absorbers are changed.
Capital (Heavy) repair
Capital (Heavy) repair provides for the change of the section(-s) of the bar for the new one(-s), change of the Kelly drive stub, all works for the previous repairs or the change of the tubular section for the new one with mounting locking devices.
